QB Progression/Installation/Execution
North Texas QB Coach Sean Brophy joined us for Part 2 of our QB Development series this off season and it was a great one! He talked QB Progression, Installation, & Execution in a 60 minute must watch clinic for any QB Coach. His 1st Piece of advice is simple: start from the start:
Start with the Basics (Cadence, How we Huddle, How to Call Plays in the huddle)
Assume Nothing
Establish & Implement Common Staff Language
Cleary Define Standards & Expectations
Be an Elite Teach-Why they call us "Coach"
Ryan Day's Hiring Process:
It was an interesting few weeks for Ryan Day as he interviewed a handful of Coaches for his Offensive Coordinator opening. He then hires Bill O'Brien who quickly left to be the Head Coach at Boston College & then hired Chip Kelly away from UCLA. In a recent interview with Eleven Warriors, he was asked why he didn't hire Chip Kelly initially & Ryan broke down his hiring process by Category: A-List Group, B-List, C-List. And if none of those worked out, he'd be calling plays this fall. Video is here starting at the 20 min mark:
